An individual who spiked candy with tranquilliser and gave them to children at a youth camp in Leicestershire has pleaded guilty to sexual offences against two boys both nine and ten years old.
The defendant was arrested after eight minors and a grown-up experienced illness at the facility in mid-summer.
The senior citizen, from that region, confessed to a total of 17 charges when he appeared at Leicester Crown Court on recently.
However, he disputed one of the sexual offences he was facing, which was concerning a young boy.
Ruben was remanded in custody prior to a additional proceeding on 28 November.
'Candy game'
The legal representative, handling the case, detailed Ruben's offending to the court.
She explained his victims were disadvantaged youngsters who were participating in a summer camp which he operated.
Ruben conducted a "sweet game" with the children, Mrs Prior said, in which he would enter the children's bedrooms when they were settling down and request they to eat sweets "as fast as possible".
She told the court the man had conducted this practice with the young males "for many years", and minors had earlier experienced illness the subsequent day.
She stated the defendant had been able to explain this over a long period as the youngsters being "overexcited from fun", until his stepson had worries in July 2025.
The prosecutor added: "This year his stepson had worries about what was going on, justifiably.
"They resolved" to examine in the defendant's belongings."
The legal counsel stated objects including baby oil, Vaseline and medical needles were found, and his stepchild contacted the law enforcement about his suspicions.
She said the man proceeded to engage in the "treat game" with six youngsters that time - that Saturday - and they were all sick the subsequent day.
"Law enforcement" had not arrived by that time," she added.
The oversight body, the police conduct office, had stated that it was examining Leicestershire Police's handling of the events.
The prosecutor stated the minors were having difficulty walking due to their condition, so Ruben's stepson contacted the police once more.
She stated the defendant then engaged in the "treat game" in a area of five children.
